7 Best Risk Management Conferences to Attend in 2026 (And Which Question Each One Answers)

Start With the Question, Not the Brochure

Most “best conferences” lists rank events by size, keynote names, or city. That is the wrong way to choose.

A risk conference is only worth the budget if it answers the question you are actually facing this year. Some questions are about people: who do I need to know in my market? Some are about compliance: what do regulators expect of me next? And one question almost no conference addresses: how do I make my team better at analysing uncertainty before decisions are made?

In preparing for RAW 2026, we reviewed 172 risk conferences and 28 fully published programmes across six continents. Below are the seven that deserve a place on a corporate risk professional’s shortlist β€” with an honest note on what each one is genuinely good for, and what it is not.

1. Risk Awareness Week (RAW) 2026

When / where: 12–16 October 2026, fully online

Ask RAW@AI about this post or just talk about risk management

Best for: Risk professionals who want their team to analyse uncertainty differently β€” and apply it the following week

Cost: Days 1–2 free; full Premium access with CPD certificate $550

RAW is the only event on this list built around decisions rather than risk categories. Every session is structured around a specific choice β€” a budget, an investment, a project, a strategy β€” and how uncertainty should change it. Speakers are independent: no vendor pays for a slot. The faculty includes Douglas Hubbard (How to Measure Anything), Dr. Sam L. Savage (The Flaw of Averages, SIPmath), Norman Marks, Grant Purdy, Michele Wucker, Leo Tilman and Alex Sidorenko.

Since 2019, RAW has brought together 21,650+ professionals from 140+ countries, delivered 375 expert workshops, and received the FERMA Training & Education Programme of the Year award in 2024. Every past edition is available in free replay.

Where it falls short: No exhibition floor, no golf, no handshake with your broker. If your goal is insurance market relationships, this is not the place.

2. RIMS RISKWORLD 2026

When / where: 3–6 May 2026, Philadelphia, USA

Best for: North American risk and insurance professionals who need the marketplace and the network

Scale: ~10,000 attendees β€” the largest risk management conference in the world

RISKWORLD is the industry’s trade fair. 100+ education sessions across alternative risk transfer, ESG, AI and cyber, strategic and enterprise risk. Keynotes from Adam Grant, Evan Greenberg (Chubb) and Michael Strahan. Three of five days are anchored by receptions, a golf tournament, a 5K and the Spencer SoirΓ©e β€” because the real product is the marketplace, and RIMS delivers it better than anyone.

Where it falls short: Breadth over depth. Across the full published programme, decision quality as a discipline does not appear.

3. FERMA Forum 2026

When / where: 4–6 October 2026, Rotterdam, Netherlands

Best for: European risk managers navigating EU regulation, captives and risk financing

Scale: 3,000+ attendees

FERMA Forum is where the European regulatory conversation happens β€” DORA, CSRD, Solvency II, and the 2026 theme of risk financing and captive solutions. National associations from across Europe gather here, and FERMA itself has been a serious voice for practitioner interests (it is also the body that recognised RAW as Training & Education Programme of the Year in 2024).

Where it falls short: Sponsor-shaped agenda. Risk financing dominates because carriers fund the stage; analytical method barely appears.

4. Airmic Annual Conference 2026

When / where: 15–17 June 2026, ICC Birmingham, UK

Best for: UK corporate risk and insurance professionals; up to 37 CPD hours

Scale: 2,000+ attendees, 120+ speakers

The most complete published programme of any UK risk event, and one of the more practitioner-driven associations in the field. Keynotes from Swiss Re Group CEO Andreas Berger and Zurich CUO Penny Seach; a PRA speech; panels on captives, political violence, cyber and the protection gap. If your world is the London market and post-Brexit UK regulation, this context is hard to replicate.

Where it falls short: Speakers overwhelmingly represent insurers, brokers and law firms. The question “how should this uncertainty change a decision we face right now?” is not on the agenda.

5. RMIA Risk Conference 2026

When / where: 28–30 April 2026, Canberra, Australia

Best for: Australian and New Zealand practitioners; public sector and governance-heavy risk functions

Theme: “Risk With Purpose”

Australia’s flagship risk event: one workshop day followed by two days of keynotes (Kristen Hansen’s human-centred risk model, Todd Sampson on brain power) and 40+ speakers across ESG, climate, governance, cybersecurity and AI safety. The gala dinner and Risk Awards are a genuine fixture of the ANZ professional calendar.

Where it falls short: Heavy on culture and governance, light on quantification. Across the entire ANZ region, practitioner content on decision-making under uncertainty is effectively absent.

6. PARIMA Singapore Conference 2026

When / where: 14–15 October 2026, PARKROYAL Collection, Singapore (also Penang 6–7 August, Beijing 17 September)

Best for: Asia-Pacific risk managers dealing with multinational insurance programmes, regional regulation and peer relationships across jurisdictions

Cost: Free for qualifying corporate risk managers; insurers, brokers and consultants pay $2,800–3,500

PARIMA is the most geographically active gathering for Asia-Pacific risk professionals, and Singapore is its flagship. The 2026 theme, “The New Risk Order,” sits alongside sessions on surety markets, transactional liability insurance and risk transfer β€” the questions APAC buyers are actually wrestling with. For a region where formal risk functions are still being built, the peer network is genuinely valuable.

Where it falls short: The pricing tells the story. Practitioners attend free because vendors pay to be in the room with them β€” and the programme reflects that. Risk categories and insurance products, not methods for modelling uncertainty before a decision.

Note: Runs in parallel with RAW (12–16 October) β€” attend Singapore in person, catch RAW in the evenings or on replay.

7. RIMS Canada Conference 2026

When / where: 18–21 October 2026, QuΓ©bec City, Canada

Best for: Canadian risk professionals who want the RIMS network without the Philadelphia scale

Smaller and more intimate than RISKWORLD, with a bilingual programme and a strong public-sector and resource-industry presence. If you are based in Canada, this is the practical national gathering.

Where it falls short: Overlaps with the tail end of RAW’s week β€” but there’s no real conflict, since RAW runs online. Watch the replays after QuΓ©bec City.

The Pattern Behind the List

Six of these seven conferences share a structure: sponsor-funded, insurance-market-adjacent, organised around risk categories β€” cyber, climate, ESG, captives. They are excellent at what they are designed for: community, marketplace, regulatory context, CPD hours.

Across all of them, one thing is consistently missing. In the 28 fully published programmes we reviewed from the corporate risk circuit, the terms Monte Carlo, probability, risk matrix and decision quality appear a combined zero times. The vocabulary of analysis is absent β€” not because organisers are careless, but because the sponsor model does not reward it.

RAW exists to fill exactly that gap. It does not replace the network you build at RIMS or Airmic. It gives you the methods to bring back to your desk on Monday.
